How Financial Statements Work

Collect and validate data from various sources – Unity Financial Reporting automatically collects trial balance data and other contributing information from upstream systems and notifies users when the data is ready. Users have the flexibility to apply securities updates to a specific fund, a subset of funds, or for all funds across the enterprise. Once data is brought into the system, it is mapped against historical data to identify and clear any data exceptions.

Preview draft reports – With one click of a button, Unity Financial Reporting generates the stylized version of a shareholder report and returns a stylized PDF document 99% faster than is possible with traditional typesetting processes. Reviews can occur on highly stylized content at all stages of the review cycle, either electronically or on hard copy. To maintain the integrity of the document during the review process, workflow tools prevent reviewers from directly editing the content during the review process. Documents and their content can be approved for inclusion in a final book or disapproved and returned to the preparer for edits.

Confirm and validate draft content – The system lets you automatically compare holdings records to those of previous cycles and third-party sources and then automatically presents data conflicts and exceptions to users for resolution. Adjustments are made directly through the user interface, which provides a valuable audit trail of changes.

Prepare final shareholder report - Once all documents have been approved, they are ready for assembly into a larger shareholder report. Unity Financial Reporting automatically combines the underlying documents into a full shareholder report in both web-ready and print-ready formats. Once the fund board has signed off on the single language version of the reports, the process to create the required language versions begins. The Microsoft Word® and XML files (Translation Package) associated with the final PDF are exported from Unity Financial Reporting for delivery to the translation provider. Once the translation is complete, the Translation Package is uploaded back into Unity Financial Reporting and the other language versions are typeset in a fraction of the time required by traditional typesetting. Multi-language PDF versions are then exported out of the system for distribution to shareholders.
