Automated Publishing

Unity Financial Reporting® includes a next generation automated shareholder report publishing solution that allows the Financial Reporting team to take control from the typesetter to eliminate the risk and uncertainty involved in the shareholder report stylization process.

Relying on a typesetter to create stylized content has long been a control challenge for Financial Reporting teams. Each time the data leaves the financial reporting system for formatting and layout by the typesetter, the risk of inadvertent changes is introduced. Increase this by multiple authors' alterations and drafts required during each review and the risk becomes even more substantial.

Automated Publishing allows fund officers to more confidently certify each shareholder report, knowing that the reports will be free of typesetter errors. For the Financial Reporting team, automated publishing dramatically reduces the effort involved to complete the shareholder reports by eliminating manual formatting and time-consuming line-by-line draft review. As a result, financial statements are prepared on the Financial Reporting team's timetable, not the typesetter's.

Key Benefits

  • Blackline control
  • Style control
  • Workflow control
  • Quality control
  • Faster time to drafts
  • Scalable
  • Multi language
  • Typesetter free

How Automated Publishing Works

Control the document structure — Unity Financial Reporting allows you to break the typical shareholder report into individual documents for each component. By breaking the reports into many underlying documents, multiple people are able to work on the same shareholder report and at the same time, the risk of inadvertent changes is reduced. The individual documents are then automatically recombined into a shareholder report without regenerating the underlying content. As a result, the only content changes made during the document composition process are those initiated by the document reviewers.

Add raw content to documents — Content can be dynamic data pulled directly from the Unity platform database or static content received from other shareholder reporting contributors. This content is completely unformatted, which allows you to focus directly on its quality, rather than its visual presentation. Once the content is approved, the document is saved directly into the Unity platform database.

Generate and review stylized content — With one click of a button, Unity Financial Reporting then generates the stylized version of a shareholder report and returns a stylized PDF document 99% faster than is possible with typesetting. Reviews can occur on highly stylized content at all stages of the review cycle, either electronically or on hard copy. To maintain the integrity of the document during the review process, workflow tools prevent reviewers from directly editing the content during the review process. Documents and their content can be approved for inclusion in a final book or disapproved and returned to the preparer for edits.

Edit stylized content — After a document has been reviewed, changes can be made to stylized content in minutes. As soon as a reviewer unlocks the document, you can adjust the underlying data and regenerate content or edit the content directly within the document. After all edits are made the document is re-locked and sent for final review. All changes to the document are tracked and a blackline is presented back to the reviewer.

Prepare final shareholder report — Once all documents have been approved, they are ready for assembly into a larger shareholder report. Unity Financial Reporting automatically combines the underlying documents into a full shareholder report in both web-ready and print-ready formats.
