Confluence Named Among Healthiest Employers in Western PA
June 17, 2013
Confluence, a leading provider of automated data management solutions for the investment management industry, announced today that it has been recognized as one of the Healthiest Employers in Western PA by the Pittsburgh Business Times. This is the second consecutive year that Confluence has been named to the Healthiest Employers list.
In 2009, the company first designed an innovative wellness program that promotes healthy behaviors and lifestyle management among employees. Confluence has successfully maximized employee participation over the past four years by offering lunch-and-learn forums, on-site biometric health screenings, and online education programs.
"We believe our employees deserve a wellness program that reflects the same commitment to innovation and extraordinary service that we provide to our clients," said Janis Shaw, Vice President of People at Confluence. "We're honored to be considered among the region's healthiest employers for a second consecutive year. Our health and wellness initiatives have helped employees control out-of-pocket medical costs and encouraged them to take good care of themselves and their families."
Committed to innovation, Confluence launched a new facet to the wellness program in August of 2012. The MyHealth Coach@Work plan introduced an on-site health coach to meet with employees for one-on-one counseling and health referrals. In the six months following the launch of MyHealth Coach@Work in August of 2012, Confluence saw a 21.7 percent reduction in its obese population, a 13 percent reduction in its overweight population, and a 21.7 percent reduction of its number of employees who are at risk for high cholesterol.
Winning companies were selected by the Pittsburgh Business Times based on scores determined by a web-based survey conducted by Indianapolis-based Healthiest Employer LLC. The survey was composed of 75 questions that asked participants about the scope, staff involvement, results and upper-level management support of their corporate wellness programs.
Companies named to this year's Healthiest Employers list were recognized at a Health and Wellness Expo at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh on Thursday, June 13. A special print supplement of the Pittsburgh Business Times, released June 14, also highlighted the award winners.
